CALL FOR PAPERS -
2nd Research Exchange Workshop on
TECHNOLOGICAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP and INNOVATION MANAGEMENT
(16th-17th March 2010, Padua, Italy)


The University of Padua is glad to announce the second Research Exchange
Workshop on Technological Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, that
will take place in Padua on 16th and 17th march 2010. An innovative
meeting that will join a community of researchers and scholars, presenting
their projects, perspectives and results concerning entrepreneurship
within emerging industries.

The Academic Workshop on Technological Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Management is part of the Research and Innovation Forum 2010, the third
edition of an international meeting of innovators, entrepreneurs,
academics that will take place in Padua from 11th to 17th March 2010.
Debates, workshops and exhibitions will be dedicated to the scientific
research and innovation promoted by both firms and public centres.


Why this meeting


Is Entrepreneurship a growing and exciting field of scholar research or a
dangerous field of dreams? While different perspectives, approaches and
methodologies have been used in the past years to explore the
entrepreneurial phenomena, there is an interesting debate focusing on the
nature, the tools and the main objectives of entrepreneurship. At the same
time, in traditional and fast developing economies technological
entrepreneurs are recognized as fundamental agents of change, economic
development and innovation.


Objectives

   1. offer to young researchers and research teams an exclusive
opportunity to present and compare their work, focusing on the general
scope, the methodologies and the main research streams,
   2. create a networked community of leading research centres and teams
working on complementary topics regarding technological
entrepreneurship,
   3. present new results or innovative research.


Who should attend


This academic event has been designed for PhD students, young researchers,
junior lectures/professors, in order to present research projects and
preliminary/intermediate results of their work. Not only single scholars,
but research groups are encouraged to join the Workshop which aims at
comparing the research patterns of leading centres and teams.


Workshop concept


Innovative projects and papers, literature review papers, PhD, research
projects, joint research projects are welcome. Participants are requested
to present both the general research project they are carrying out and
preliminary or specific results. These results can be in the form of 1)
working paper 2) original new paper 3) already published paper. A
discussant will be appointed for each presentation. The meeting will be
closed by a peer focus group on the presented topics.

   3.Recognition and exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities

   6.From the scientific idea to the commercial product: strategies of
successful innovation management
   7.Patterns and perspectives on open innovation
   8.Gender and minority entrepreneurship
   9.Finance and venture capital for supporting entrepreneurial ventures
  10.Entrepreneurship education

The time allocated for each presentation (45 min) is divided into:

    *introduction to the general research project
    *specific aspects or preliminary (final) results
    *interaction with the discussant
    *open discussion

“Inspire, motivate and support the next entrepreneurial generation” will
take place in Padua An international meeting of educators, academics,
practitioners, consultants and entrepreneurs that will present their
ideas, projects, results and experiences concerning entrepreneurial
education and the diffusion of the enterprising culture in the society.

First step: please fill the expression of interest attached to this file
and send it to both entrepreneurship.padua at gmail.com and
paolo.giacon at unipd.it till 30th November 2009. In the expression of
interest you will find some questions about the general research project
and the research team. Participation from the same research team is
encouraged. Please read carefully the deadline section.


Second step: send your work to both entrepreneurship.padua at gmail.com and
paolo.giacon at unipd.it, following the deadline section. The general project
description should not exceed 2000 words.


Location


The Research Exchange Workshop will take place in the city of Padua, the
economic and communications hub of the Veneto region in northern Italy: it
stands 40km west of Venice. The nearest airports are Venice “Marco Polo”
and Venice-Treviso. Padova is one of the most beautiful cities in the
north east of Italy: in Padua you could visit the Cappella degli
Scrovegni, painted by Giotto, the Basilica del Santo (St.Anthony’s
cathedral) and Prato della Valle, the largest square in the European
Union. Padua hosts one of the most ancient university in the world, the
University of Padua, founded in 1222. Nowadays Padua University plays an
important role in scholarly and scientific research at both a European and
world level. True to its origins, this is the direction in which the
Institution intends to move in the future, establishing closer and closer
links of co-operation and exchange with all the world's major research
universities.

The fee includes both proceedings, a welcome cocktail, 1 dinner, coffee
breaks, 2 lunches and a guided tour to the historical buildings of the
University of Padua (The Anatomy Theatre, The Great Hall, The Old
Courtyard and the Heraldic Crests, The Medicine Hall Galileo’s teaching
podium).


   2.(16th and 17th March 2009) Research Exchange Workshop: 200 €


The fee includes proceedings, a welcome cocktail, 1 dinner, coffee breaks,
1 lunch and a guided tour to the historical buildings of the University of
Padua (The Anatomy Theatre, The Great Hall, The Old Courtyard and the
Heraldic Crests, The Medicine Hall Galileo’s teaching podium).


   3.      (15th march 2009) European Summit on Entrepreneurship
Education: 200 €.


The fee includes proceedings, coffee break, 1 lunch and a guided tour to
the historical buildings of the University of Padua (The Anatomy Theatre,
The Great Hall, The Old Courtyard and the Heraldic Crests, The Medicine
Hall Galileo’s teaching podium).


Payment must be made by bank transfer. More information on the transfer
will be sent after the receipt of the expression of interest.


Refund policy


1. Registrations cancelled more than 60 days before the event will be
refunded 80% of the registration fee.

2. Registrations cancelled less than 60 but more than 30 days before the
event will be refunded 50% of the registration fee.

3. Registrations cancelled less than 30 days before the event will not be
eligible for a refund.


Deadlines

If you want to join the Research Exchange Workshop, please fill the
expression of interest, attached to this call and submit it to both
entrepreneurship.padua at gmail.com and paolo.giacon at unipd.it . The deadline
is November 30th 2009. Communication of acceptance: 18th December 2009.
The general project and final paper submission deadline is February 15th,
2010.
