Die Universität Konstanz wird seit 2007 im Rahmen der
Exzellenzinitiative des Bundes und der Länder mit ihrem "Zukunftskonzept
zum Ausbau universitärer Spitzenforschung"
gefördert. Der Exzellenzcluster „Kulturelle Grundlagen von Integration“
wurde 2006 an der Universität Konstanz aus Mitteln der
Exzellenzinitiative des Bundes und der Länder eingerichtet. Er begreift
sich als interdisziplinäres, international eingebundenes Netzwerk, das
originelle Forschungsvorhaben zu Fragen von Integration und
Desintegration im Rahmen einer kulturwissenschaftlichen Grundausrichtung
fördert.
Im Exzellenzcluster werden Forschungen aus der Geschichts-, Literatur-
und Medienwissenschaft, der Politik-, Verwaltungs- und
Rechtswissenschaft sowie der Philosophie, Soziologie,
Ethnologie/Kulturanthropologie und Kulturtheorie zusammengefĂĽhrt.
Der Exzellenzcluster vergibt spätestens zum 1.Oktober 2014 folgende
Positionen:
3 Promotionsstellen im Doktorandenkolleg „Europa in der globalisierten
Welt“, Themenschwerpunkt Migration und Grenzen in Zeiten erhöhter Mobilität
(Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L / 50%-70%)
Die Stellen sind *befristet fĂĽr 3 Jahre* zu besetzen.
Das interdisziplinäre Kolleg ist als Forschungszusammenhang von zwei
Postdocs, bislang sieben Doktoranden/Doktorandinnen sowie vier
Professoren/Professorinnen aus verschiedenen am Cluster beteiligten
Disziplinen konzipiert. Die Nachwuchswissenschaftler/
Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen sind eng in die Forschungszusammenhänge
des Exzellenzclusters „Kulturelle Grundlagen von Integration“
eingebunden und gleichzeitig in die Fachbereiche der ihnen zugeordneten
Disziplinen integriert. Die Doppelanbindung an Kolleg und Fachbereiche
sichert die koordinierte Förderung und Betreuung.
*Forschungsgegenstand: *
Die globalen Machtverschiebungen stellen Europas Positionierung in der
Welt grundsätz¬lich zur Diskussion. Fragen von Zusammenleben und
Konflikt, soziokultureller Identifikation und Ausgrenzung sowie
Herrschaft und Legitimation stehen im Zentrum der Forschungsarbeit am
Kolleg. Die Projekte des Doktorandenkollegs können thematisch als Grenz-
und Kontaktprojekte verstanden werden: Wie konstruiert und konstituiert
sich Europa durch Beziehungen und Verflechtungen mit seinem AuĂźen bzw.
Gegenüber? Dabei setzen sie geläufige Vorstellungen von Europa in Bezug
zu der sich verstärkt globalisierenden Welt und denken Europa von seinen
(realen und imaginierten) Grenzen her. Die Forschungsprojekte des
Kollegs leisten Beiträge zu den folgenden drei Themenbereichen: (1)
"Konstruktionen von Ethnizität, Identität und Differenz", (2)
"Souveränitätsregime" und (3) "Migration und Grenzen in Zeiten erhöhter
Mobilität".
Bewerbungen mit Dissertationsprojekten fĂĽr den Schwerpunkt "Migration
und Grenzen in Zeiten erhöhter Mobilität" sind besonders erwünscht.

Bereitschaft oder Interesse an interdisziplinärer Zusammenarbeit wird
auf der Basis einer guten fachlichen Verankerung in einer der am Cluster
beteiligten Disziplinen vorausgesetzt. Bereits fortgeschrittene
Promotionsprojekte sind ausdrĂĽcklich willkommen.
*Zu Ihren Aufgaben gehören:*
Abfassung einer Dissertationsschrift in einem Milieu interdisziplinärer
Aufgeschlossenheit und internationaler Ausrichtung, regelmäßige
Teilnahme an gemeinsamen Kolloquien, Mitwirkung an weiteren gemeinsamen
Aktivitäten des Kollegs (Workshops, Tagungen etc.).

The University of Konstanz, with its “Institutional Strategy to promote
Top-Level Research”, has been receiving continuous funding since 2007
within the framework of the Excellence Initiative by the German Federal
and State Governments.
The “Cultural Foundations of Integration” Center of Excellence was
established in 2006 at the University of Konstanz with funding from the
German Federal and State Excellence Initiative. The Center views itself
as an interdisciplinary, globally integrated network supporting original
research projects centered on questions of integration and
disintegration in a framework of cultural studies and method. At the
Center of Excellence, research is brought together from the fields of
history, literary and media studies, political science, administration,
and law, and from philosophy, sociology, ethnology/cultural
anthropology, and cultural theory.
The Center of Excellence invites applicants for the following positions,
to be filled as soon as possible:
*3 PhD Positions in the Doctoral Program on “Europe in the Globalized
World” Research focus: Migration and Borders in an Age of Intensified
Mobility*
(Salary scale 13 TV-L / 50%-70%)
The positions are limited to a 3 year period.
*Note on the structure of the program:*
This interdisciplinary program is a research unit currently consisting
of two postdocs, seven doctoral students, and professors from all the
disciplines participating in the Center. The three junior researchers
will be integrated into both the Center’s research contexts and the
departments of the disciplines with which they are associated.
Supervisory emphasis lies in the disciplines of ethnology, history,
sociology, literature, and cultural theory. The twofold
research-integration will structurally assure coordinated support and
supervision.
*Conceptual focus:*
Global shifts of power have meant that Europe’s position in the world is
under discussion in a fundamental way. Questions of cooperation and
conflict, socio-cultural identification and exclusion, and rule and
legitimation are at the center of the program’s research. The current
projects of the program all engage in one way or another with questions
of borders and contact: What processes are at play in Europe’s
self-constitution through relationships and interconnections with those
beyond its borders? Current ideas regarding Europe are examined in the
framework of intensified international globalization, with the continent
explored conceptually in terms of its real and imagined borders. The
program’s projects contribute to the following fields of study:
1. Constructions of Ethnicity, Identity, and Difference
2. Regimes of Sovereignty; and
3. Migration and Borders in an Age of Intensified Mobility
Applications involving dissertation projects with an emphasis on
“Migration and Borders in an Age of Intensified Mobility” are

*Responsibilities:*
Preparation of a dissertation in a milieu characterized by
interdisciplinary openness and an international orientation; regular
participation in joint colloquia; participation in additional joint
activities of the program (workshops, conferences, etc.).
Applicants should be prepared and willing for interdisciplinary
cooperation on the basis of a well-grounded disciplinary formation in
one of the subjects represented in the Center of Excellence. Candidates
who have advanced doctoral projects are particularly welcome to apply.
