Configurational Analysis in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology
Research

An edited volume to be published with Springer as part of the FGF
Studies in Small Business and Entrepreneurship

Introduction
Rather than analyzing net effects, configurational analysis focuses on
the analysis of causal complexity. Although originally employed
primarily by sociologists and political scientists, there is an
increasing number of scholars applying this approach in business and
management studies. Entrepreneurship, innovation and technology are
research areas, which naturally have numerous interfaces to other
disciplines requiring complex research designs. The configurational
approach provides an outstanding means to deal with that complexity.
Newly developed methods such as Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA)
have further led to an increased application in advanced theoretical and 
empirical studies. Given the rapid developments within this field, there 
exists a need for a state-of-the-art edited collection and a forum for 
further establishment of the configurational approach within management 
studies.

Objective of the Book
This volume aims at providing a forum for the discussion of the
configurational approach in the context of entrepreneurship, innovation
and technology and also at developing to be a standard reference in the
rising field of the application and advancement of the configurational
approach. We invite papers with different theoretical concepts and
methods, in order to assemble a rich, vibrant and multi-faceted
collection of studies following a configurational approach and bringing
together diverse perspectives. Theoretical contributions will be
considered as well as empirical papers. Apart from configurational
methods such as qualitative comparative analysis and cluster analysis,
we also welcome adjacent methods capturing complexity.

Target Audience
This book will be a timely reference and essential reading material for
students, academics, qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods
research practitioners as well as political decision makers.

• Multidimensional factors of influence on entrepreneurship, innovation
and technology and challenges for policy makers following from these
influences
• Cross-country, comparative, multi-effect studies

Submission Procedure
Researchers are invited to submit on or before October 30, 2014, a 2-3
page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his 
or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified 
by November 30, 2014 about the status of their proposals and sent 
chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by March 
30, 2015. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind 
review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers 
for this project.

This book will be published with Springer, as part of the FGF Studies in 
Small Business and Entrepreneurship. The book series serves as a vehicle 
to help academics, professionals, researchers and policy makers, working 
in the fields of small business and entrepreneurship, to disseminate and
