JOB VACANCY

The Institute for SME-Management and Entrepreneurship at Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is currently inviting applications for the position of Teaching and Research Associate (Universitätsassistent/Universitatsassistentin prae doc) (employee pursuant to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement for university staff), from 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2019:

Extent of employment: 20h/week or 30h/week
minimum gross monthly salary for 20h/week: € 1,266.-
minimum gross monthly salary for 30h/week: € 1,899.-
(eventual classroom teaching is remunerated separately)

Responsibilities:
Taking part in the institute’s teaching and research, participating in research projects and in publishing the results. Additionally, coaching, supervising and coordinating students (e.g. bachelor theses, teaching and collaborating in classes, correcting exam papers).

The objective of the position is to achieve a Ph.D. degree. In line with the Institute’s research culture, applicants aiming for an academic career are preferred. The successful applicant will deal with management problems at SMEs. Regarding research and, above all, the Ph.D. thesis, applicants are preferred that are interested in family businesses and inter-company cooperation from a social-sciences perspective.

Required skills and qualifications:
Master’s or diploma degree in business; excellent oral and written English. 

Desirable skills and qualifications:
Above-average degree; above-average analytical and conceptual skills, above-average knowledge in statistics or qualitative method and experience in academic work.

Please note that under the terms of the WU personnel development plan, the position of Teaching and Research Associate is limited to an employment period of not more than six years. Applicants who are already employed at WU as substitute employees can therefore only be employed for the time remaining to complete the six-year period. Persons who already were employed as a Teaching and Research Associate (Universitätsassistent/in prae doc), can only be employed as an Assistant Professor (Universitätsassistent post doc/ Universitätsassistentin post doc) in the tenure track.
