CALL FOR PAPERS
Pre-Conference Junior Faculty Research Workshop
Entrepreneurship and Strategy Interest Group, Strategic Management Society
Sponsored by the Kauffman Foundation

Workshop Chairs:
MB Sarkar (Temple University)
Thomas Keil (Aalto University)

The Entrepreneurship and Strategy Interest Group solicits working papers related to entrepreneurship research for a Pre-Conference Junior Faculty Workshop to be held at the SMS 32nd Annual International Conference on Saturday, October 6, 2012. The full-day workshop will be held at the Prague Congress Centre. Due to the generous support provided by the Kauffman Foundation, individuals selected to participate in the workshop will be reimbursed for their registration or travel and accommodation expenses, up to $750. Only one author per paper will be eligible to receive this reimbursement.

We invite authors to submit papers that relate to the various aspects of entrepreneurship. In order to participate, you must submit a "work-in-progress" on an entrepreneurship-related topic. Intersections of entrepreneurship with strategy and other disciplines (e.g. management, economics, psychology and sociology) are welcome. To qualify for participation, you have to be a registered attendee of the 2012 SMS Annual Conference in Prague, and have already completed your dissertation. Preference will be given to submitting authors who are in the first six years of their academic career.

Submission Guidelines:

Please submit a complete working paper (only one paper per submitting author) that is targeted at a research journal by July 31, 2012 at http://prague.strategicmanagement.net/ig_workshop/entrepreneurship_strategy_workshop.php

The paper can be under early stages of review at a journal at the time of submission.

Also, include with your proposal:

o the status of the submitter and the year your PhD was awarded
o your institutional affiliation
o whether you are currently registered for the 2012 SMS Conference
o title and abstract of the paper
o three key words that describe the paper

An evaluation committee will review the submitted papers, and their decision will be communicated to you by August 20, 2012. The accepted working papers and researchers will then be grouped into panels. Panels will be developed based on convergent interests and/or overlap among the submitted proposals. Each panel will be matched with a senior mentor who shares an interest in the topic. The working papers will be circulated in advance among members of a panel, and prior to the workshop, participants in each panel will be expected to prepare written comments and feedback on the other working papers in their panel.

At the Conference, the goal of each panel will be to exchange constructive criticism and feedback, extract critical themes from the working papers, identify conceptual foundations, and evaluate alternative research strategies. The various panel discussions will be a springboard for critical thought and, ideally, for collaborative relationships.
