Assistant Professor (Universitair Docent) Innovation studies, STS f/m 

For 0.8-0.9 fte

Tasks 
You contribute to the further development of research of the Department of Biology & Society of the Athena Institute. The mission of the institute is to develop a scientific knowledge base that can be used to organise an open dialogue between science and society in order to address complex societal issues in a sustainable way. The department Biology and Society is oriented on the analysis and management of various interfaces between health and life sciences and society. Interactive learning and action models for the management of innovation processes on the basis of societal priorities are developed and evaluated at micro, meso and macro level. Depending on your background, expertise and interest you will participate in on-going research projects. 

You also contribute to teaching on policy, management, research methodologies and science, technology and society studies in various bachelors and masters programs. The language of instruction in the bachelors programs is Dutch and the masters programs are taught in English. 

Requirements 
•• You have a PhD preferably in the field of science, technology and society studies, innovation studies or other discipline(s) resulting in an integrated natural sciences and social sciences background; 
•• your research experience demonstrates your expertise in the cross-cutting approach of science, technology and society studies or innovation studies; 
•• you have published in refereed international journals or books; 
•• expertise in interactive and participatory research methods is highly welcomed; 
•• you have experience in raising external research funds; 
•• you hold a network of relevant international contacts; 
•• you write and speak Dutch and English fluently. Teaching experience in English is a plus; 
•• you are open to transdisciplinary research work; 
•• you are a team player; 
•• previous experience with innovative, problem-based teaching methods is highly welcomed; 
•• you are very well capable to supervise a theoretical thesis, projects and internships (for example, you received positive evaluations from students).

The appointment is initially offered for a two-year period. The appointment is initially offered for a two-year period with the possibility of extension. Depending on experience and qualification, the gross monthly salary is between salary scale 11 (min. € 3.195,-) and salary
