CALL FOR PAPERS - Harvard Business School Arthur Rock Center For
Entrepreneurship
RESEARCH CONFERENCE ON "CREATIVITY, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AND ORGANIZATIONS
OF THE FUTURE"
A Harvard Business School Centennial Colloquium
December 7-8, 2007
Deadline: 31 July 2007

Creativity is an essential element of success in contemporary
organizations, yet much remains to be discovered about how creativity
happens in the minds of individuals, in group processes, and in
entrepreneurial organizations. This conference will draw on scholarly
work from multiple disciplines to deepen our understandings of
creativity and entrepreneurship, and the ways in which their
intersection might impact organizations of the future.

SPEAKERS:

The conference will feature keynote speakers Howard Gardner, James
March, and Amy Edmondson. A panel of business leaders will include David
Kelley (Founder, IDEO; Professor, Stanford), Mark Fishman, MD
(President, Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research), Kim Malone
(Director, AdSense, Google), and Scott Cook (Founder, Intuit). A panel
of academics will include Robert Sutton (Stanford), Teresa Amabile
(Harvard), Fiona Murray (MIT), and Robert Litan (Vice President of
Research and Policy, Kauffman Foundation).

TOPICS:

Areas of interest for scholarly papers include, but are not limited to:
- The psychology and the sociology of creativity
- The history of creative change in fields, industries, and
organizations
- Challenges and opportunities of creativity in the information age
- Entrepreneurial experimentation in both young and mature organizations
- The generation and implementation of new ideas in any type of
organization
- Entrepreneurship in stereotypically "creative" and "non-creative"
industries
- Stimulants and obstacles to creativity in organizations, disciplines,
and society
- The relationship between creativity, competition, and entrepreneurship

PAPER SUBMISSIONS:

Submissions should be original research papers that have not yet been
published or accepted for publication. We are interested in an eclectic
mix of papers spanning multiple disciplines (e.g. psychology, sociology,
business history, economics, finance, international business,
organization theory, political science), approaches, and levels of
analysis. International and global perspectives are encouraged. Both
empirical and theoretical papers are welcome. Approximately 10 papers
will be accepted for presentation.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

The deadline for paper submissions is July 31, 2007, and submission will
be taken as an indication of the presenter's availability for both days
of the conference. Papers should be submitted electronically, as a PDF
