Funded PhD student positions in Entrepreneurship at the Institute of
Management, Faculty of Economics, University of Lugano (Switzerland)

The University of Lugano invites applications to the Organization and
Management Theory stream of the PhD program in Economics. Students
interested in the broadly defined areas of Small and medium sized
enterprise management (SME), Entrepreneurship (ENTRE) and Family
Business (FB). With its emphasis on rigorous training and creative high
quality research the Faculty of Economics of the University of Lugano
provides a solid first step toward the development of a successful
international academic career. Successful candidates will join the
Center for Entrepreneurship Research (CERe) that is in process of being
established within IMA. Current research interests represented within
the CERe include, but are not limited to, innovation processes within
large organizations, startups success factors, family firms as value
creation systems, system dynamics and simulation models for the study of
innovation and entrepreneurship processes, theories of human capital and
social capital applied to entrepreneurship and family business.

The position is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation through
the research project "The Trans-generational Value Creation Process in
Family Business. An Empirical Approach Through Structural Equations
Modeling". Successful applicants will work as teaching and research
assistants within the Institute of Management. Admission to the Ph.D.
program is highly competitive. Admission decisions are based on the
candidates' background, interests and potential for academic
achievement. To satisfy the minimum criteria for consideration,
applicants must have completed a Master degree in economics, sociology,
social psychology, management, statistics or a closely related field
prior to joining the program. The official language of the Ph.D. program
is English. Knowledge of at least one of the Swiss national languages
would be highly desirable.
