Call For papers
Special Issue on "The Rural Entrepreneur: Problems of Identification"
Guest Editor: Ged McElwee, University of Lincoln, UK
Deadline: 31 December 2007

Rural entrepreneurship is currently at the focus of much theoretical,
practical and political interest. Entrepreneurship appears to contain
two distinctive and very different categories of activities. The first
is, broadly speaking, those management skills that are required to start
and run a business effectively. The second category is much harder to
define, but can be generally described as entrepreneurial attitudes.
Both seem important, but whilst the former can be taught, the latter
group is much more problematic.

Enterprises in rural environments are operating in an arena of extreme
and rapid change. However, despite the recognition that entrepreneurship
is one of the primary facets through which rural economic development
can be achieved, empirical research on rural entrepreneurship is
relatively sparse and this concept remains largely unknown.
