Call for Papers - RENT XX - RESEARCH IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SMALL
BUSINESS
Deadline: 1 June 2006

BACKGROUND

Following nineteen successful Workshops (in Brussels 1987, Vienna 1988,
Cologne 1989, Durham 1990, Vaxjo 1991, Barcelona 1992, Budapest 1993,
Tampere 1994, Piacenza 1995, Brussels 1996, Mannheim 1997, Lyon 1998,
London 1999, Prague 2000, Turku 2001, Barcelona 2002, Lodz 2003,
Copenhagen 2004 and Naples in 2005), RENT  XX will take place in
Brussels, Belgium.  The EIASM together with the Universiteit Antwerpen
and the Vlerick Leuven Gent Managment School will host it.

In line with traditions, RENT XX will be organised in order to stimulate
dialogue and reflections on progress in the field of entrepreneurship.
The field of entrepreneurship and small business studies has prospered
and grown considerably during the past few years in all European
countries. Remarkable development has taken place in the research
frameworks and methodologies respectively. Progress in the field of
entrepreneurship is not only triggered by the exchange of ideas and new
analyses inside the research community. It is also triggered by the
growing emphasis on entrepreneurship in policy agendas and business
communities all over Europe. It has stimulated dialogue between the
research community and communities of practice.

MAIN THEME - CONFERENCE TOPICS AND CALL FOR PAPERS

The main theme and slogan of RENT XX is:

Entrepreneurship: a driver for sustainable growth in a global and
knowledge-based environment

Submissions on any aspect of entrepreneurship and small business
development are welcomed, more especially papers dealing with the
following issues :
* The entrepreneurial process: from creation to growth
* Business incubation and new venture strategy
* Spin-off processes and knowledge transfer
* Sustainable growth
* Globalisation and SMEs
* Entrepreneurship and knowledge-based Economy and Society
* Networks and entrepreneurship
* Social entrepreneurship
* Technological entrepreneurship and Innovation
* International entrepreneurship
* Entrepreneurial Finance and venture capital
* Governance issues and corporate social responsability
* Entrepreneurship and special interest groups (women, etnic minorities,
...)
* Family firms
* Corporate entrepreneurship / intrapreneurship
* Entrepreneurship and regional development
* Entrepreneurship, support measures and policy issues
* Entrepreneurship education
* The role of universities in fostering entrepreneurship
* Other topics...

Those who wish to present a paper at the conference should submit a 3
page abstract in English (3 A4 pages - 12 points - single space between
lines) BY JUNE 1st, 2006. The abstract should clearly highlight the aim
of the paper, contribution to the literature, methodology, results and
implications. Since all abstracts are reviewed using a double blind
review process, it is COMPULSARY that neither your name nor your contact
details appear on the submission (the authors are recognized in the
system via their login)

Every presenter must be prepared to act as a discussant for one paper at
the conference.

DEADLINES

Abstract submission deadline: 1 June 2006
Notification of acceptance for presentation at conference: End of July
2006
Full paper deadline: 1 October 2006
