[Rundbrief_sektion_migration] Rundbrief Januar 2011 der Sektion Migration und Ethnische Minderheiten

Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen und Interessierte der Sektion MueM,

hiermit erhalten Sie den ersten Informationsbrief des Neuen Jahres 2011. Ich wünsche Ihnen und unserer Sektion viel Erfolg!
Zunächst muss ich leider mit einer sehr traurigen Nachricht den Informationsteil beginnen: Am 26.12. ist nach längerer Krankheit unser Kollege und Freund Michael Bommes verstorben. Michael Bommes hat sich in herausragender Weise für die Migrationsforschung in Deutschland engagiert. Er hat sich sehr stark auch in die Arbeit unserer Sektion eingebracht, war im Sektionsvorstand lange aktiv und für viele Jahre deren Sprecher. Mit seinem ständigen Bestreben nach theoretischer Präzision und Reflektion, mit seinen vielfältigen, meistens sehr innovativen  empirischen Studien, mit seinem Bemühen um gesellschaftliche Wirksamkeit der wissenschaftlichen Migrationsforschung und mit seinem stets integrativen, mit Witz und Ironie angereicherten Arbeitsstil hat er sich für die Sache der Migrationsforschung und für unsere Sektion eingesetzt. Mit 56 Jahren ist er viel zu früh aus dem Leben gerissen worden. Sein Begräbnis fand am 4. Januar d.J. unter sehr großer Anteilnahme statt. 
Ich habe als Sprecher und im Namen der Sektion einen Kranz bestellt und unser aller Beileid persönlich den Angehörigen ausgesprochen. Mit dieser Rundmail erhalten Sie ansonsten wie gewohnt
