Objective of the Book:
In the global economy, universities have been urged to become more entrepreneurial in the programs they offer and the interactions they have with business, government and society. This edited research book is about the role of entrepreneurial universities in terms of how they collaborate, educate and contribute to policy initiatives. The book will include international authors focusing on how entrepreneurship education programs are crucial to the process of entrepreneurial activities and business creation. The aim of the book is to provide insights and discussion about how teaching entrepreneurship could create new business opportunities and what is the role of university, business and government on this process. This book will be one of the first to link in a broader sense the university, business, government and society dimensions affecting entrepreneurship education. The book will be interdisciplinary in nature appealing to entrepreneurship and management scholars, students, practitioners, policy makers and entrepreneurs. The aim of this book is to examine the entrepreneurial approaches universities are taking by focusing on three main issues: i) collaboration, ii) education, and iii) policies.
i) Collaboration: we focus on how networks and alliances are being formed by universities that are aimed at entrepreneurial initiatives in the global education sector. Some of these collaborative agreements have focused on education aimed at bridging the gap between science, business and humanities, which were traditionally taught as separate disciplines.
ii) Education: it has changed as more innovative teaching practices are utilized using simulations and case studies. These educational practices have meant that courses about entrepreneurship have grown significantly due to the interdisciplinary nature of the subject. This book will look at various emerging approaches to entrepreneurship education that involve difference pedagogical approaches and teaching methods both in business management but also other academic disciplines that show the trends and practices that are emerging in this area.
iii) Policies: government policies globally are changing to foster more interaction with university-business-government-society as part of having an interrelated ecosystem focusing on entrepreneurship. Policies have also focused on different aspects of entrepreneurship education, which will be examined in this book including diversity initiatives aimed at engaging science students in business subjects.
