SAVE THE DATE!!

Announcing the 2015 Global Research Symposium on Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Chicago (IL), August 12-14

themed: Live from Chicago, It's Saturday Night Live!: Improvisation, Effectuation and Creation Theory

sponsored by the Entrepreneurial Marketing SIG of the American Marketing Association and Kauffman Foundation.

Increasingly, entrepreneurial marketing has turned to non-planned, non-predictive methods of organizational activities to understand how entrepreneurs and marketers make decisions in the face of uncertainty. Academic research on subjects such as improvisation, effectuation and creation theory can provide important understandings about entrepreneurial marketing. Chicago, IL is the home to Second City, the world famous improv-based sketch comedy theatre. Their alumni includes some of the biggest names in comedy history; such as John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, John Candy, Martin Short, Steve Carell, and Stephen Colbert. Beyond comedy, improvisation has been used in business to stimulate creative thinking, facilitate group management and foster innovation. It can be a very powerful and positive tool for entrepreneurial marketers to utilize.

Conference Location: DePaul University (Hotel Information TBD)

Two page abstract submissions are due on March 1. Authors will be notified around April 1st (final papers are due July 1).
