WEBINAR - 29 March 2012 - Prof. Luca Iandoli: Open Innovation and SMEs

Within the last decade, many experts have acknowledged
mass-collaboration, enabled by Internet-based collaborative platforms
(e.g. open source, forums, wiki, and social networks), to be one of the
most interesting novelties in the IT and business world. The emergence
of web 2.0 is instead somehow underemphasized when it comes to
recognize its role an a technological enabler of open innovation. The
open innovation paradigm assumes that to be innovative a company has to
access to talents and knowledge that lie outside of its borders. In this
webinar I will argue that web 2.0 and online collaboration offer
concrete opportunities and means for small businesses to implement open
innovation by accessing innovation networks and nurturing customers
relationships in a new way. I will offer several cases and examples to
show how small companies in particular can benefit from being more wired
and open.
