FACULTY DEVELOPMENT IN 
INTERNATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM

June 2-4, 2010 in Denver, Colorado
Hosted by the University of Colorado Denver's
Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER)
Co-sponsored by Indiana University and Brigham Young University CIBERs

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES 
. Investigate important concepts and frameworks in international entrepreneurship focusing on the intersection between international business and entrepreneurship.
. Learn the pedagogy for teaching an international entrepreneurship course or internationalizing an existing entrepreneurship course, including topics, syllabi and course materials.
. Identify available resources for teaching and research, including textbooks, readings, cases, videos and internet-based materials.
. Meet and network with colleagues who share similar interests in international entrepreneurship.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE
. Entrepreneurship faculty planning to develop a course in international entrepreneurship or add global dimensions to an entrepreneurship course.
. International business faculty who wish to teach their IB course from an entrepreneurial perspective or add a module on international entrepreneurship.
. Faculty who would like to learn more about international entrepreneurship to incorporate information into non-business courses.
. Faculty considering conducting research in international entrepreneurship.
. Faculty and directors of entrepreneurship centers who wish to internationalize their entrepreneurship programs.

Module 2 - Dr. Patricia P. McDougall - Research in International Entrepreneurship
Topics:  Key Concepts and Frameworks in International Entrepreneurship, Research in International Entrepreneurship

Module 3 - Dr. Manuel Serapio and International Entrepreneurs - Practice of International Entrepreneurship
Topics:  Teaching International Business from an Entrepreneurial Perspective, International Deal Making, International Entrepreneurship vs. Corporate Intrapreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship

Module 4 - Faculty/Staff - Pedagogy and Resources in International Entrepreneurship
Topics:  Review of course outlines, books, articles, videos, cases, conferences, electronic sources and other resources

FACULTY FACILITATORS

Walter Kuemmerle, PhD is one of the world's leading experts on international entrepreneurship and private equity.  He serves as a researcher, lecturer and consultant at leading institutions of higher learning, companies and non-governmental organizations around the world.  He was a professor at Harvard Business School for over 10 years, with a joint appointment in the Entrepreneurial Management and Technology & Operations Management faculty groups.

Patricia McDougall, PhD is the William L. Haeberle Professor of Entrepreneurship at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, and she is a pioneer in the growing field of international entrepreneurship.  She and her co-author, Benjamin Oviatt, were presented the JIBS Decade Award recognizing their article on the early internationalization of new ventures as having the most significant impact on international business research in the past decade.  A survey by the Journal of Management identified Dr. McDougall as the third most published author in entrepreneurship.

Manuel Serapio, PhD is CIBER Faculty Director and Associate Professor of International Business and Management at the University of Colorado Denver.  He developed and currently teaches the international entrepreneurship course at the Bard Center for Entrepreneurship.  He has consulted for multinational companies and international organizations in the US and Asia to include IBM, First Data/Western Union, Starbucks Coffee International, Coors Brewing Company, Janus Capital Group, the US Department of Commerce and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation.

Classroom activities will be held at UCD's Executive Programs facilities, 1250 14th Street, Denver.

FEES

The program fee is $1,600 per participant and includes course materials, breakfasts and lunches. 

SCHOLARSHIPS

Fifteen $300 IIB-CIBER scholarships are available to eligible faculty on a first-come, first-serve basis.
