Call for Papers
6th Rural Entrepreneurship Conference
Deadline: 31st January 2008

Now in its sixth year, the Rural Entrepreneurship Conference (REC) was
first established in 2002 by the Crichton Centre for Rural Enterprise
(CCRE) at the University of Paisley. Each year the Rural
Entrepreneurship Conference has provided a growing and popular forum to
discuss the latest research and policy developments in rural enterprise.
This year (2007) the REC was held the Campus of Riseholme Hall at the
University of Lincoln and next year (2008) the REC will held at Crichton
University Campus in Dumfries, Scotland. The 2008 REC is sponsered and
managed by the University of Paisley and the University of Glasgow
through the joint-funded CRRED project which benefits from ERDF support.

For the 6th Rural Entrepreneurship Conference we would like to invite
academics, policy makers and researchers to submit an abstract of no
more than 500 words which addresses one or more of the following REC
conference themes. Abstracts for the 6th REC should be submitted to
Professor David Deakins (david.deakins at paisley.ac.uk) no later than the
31st January 2008. Please indicate the reference number of the main
theme the paper is submited under along with your name and affiliated
institution.

As in previous years of the REC, selected papers will be reviewed and
may be published in the International Journal of Entrepreneurial
Behaviour and Research. The organisers will particularly welcome
submissions on the link between research and policy.

REC conference themes:

1.1 Innovation and knowledge transfer in rural entrepreneurship and
regional development.

1.2 Business incubation, rural entrepreneurship and regional
development.

1.3 Contribution of rural entrepreneurship to public policy and policy
impacts on regional development.

1.4 Communities, social capital, rural entrepreneurship and regional
development.

1.5 ICT and E-business, the rural entrepreneur and regional development.

1.6 Farmers as entrepreneurs.

1.7 Entrepreneurship in broader rural business sectors.
