The Centre for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research, IN+, at Instituto Superior Tecnico, Technical University of Lisbon,(http://in3.dem.ist.utl.pt/) offers one research position in the fields of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Labour and Industry Dynamics, Technology Commercialisation and Technology Policy.
 
The Centre for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research, IN+ is a research unit of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) - Lisbon which has been assessed as one of the top 50 global centres of research on Management of Technology by the International Association of Management of Technology (IAMOT - http://www.iamot.org/). The activities of the Centre are multidisciplinary, linking basic and applied research to new product development, technology transfer, science policy, and technology-based entrepreneurship. Research activities have recently been expanded towards industry evolution, human capital, and competitive dynamics.
 
Job Description

The duties of successful candidates include the development of independent research - mainly empirical - in the following topics:
a) Technology-based entrepreneurship and its impact on industry evolution, employment growth and regional development;
b) Entrepreneurial careers, with a particular emphasis on the dynamics of entrepreneurial entry and exit;
c) Innovation dynamics in firms and industries, particularly concerning R&D cooperation, and the effects of innovation on productivity and employment;
d) Innovation strategies of new and established firms, including diversification and corporate venturing; and
e) The effects of science and higher education policies on technology commercialization, entrepreneurial human capital and human resource dynamics.

This research should be aimed at publication in international peer-reviewed journals, and will be conducted in close collaboration with other researchers working in similar domains, under the general supervision of a senior faculty member (associate professor or higher). While research work will have a multidisciplinary focus, it should be founded on solid methodologies within economics and management science (including econometric methods). Research activities may include the supervision of Ph.D. candidates, including those entering the new Technological Change and Entrepreneurship Ph.D. Program, a Dual Degree offered by Instituto Superior Técnico and Carnegie Mellon University (http://www.icti.cmu.edu/tce/).  
 
The working language is English.
 
Salary

The successful applicant will receive salary in accordance with the university regulations for a senior researcher. The contract offered will have a duration of up to 5 years, renewed yearly based on mutual agreement. The annual gross income will be 3,038.06 Euros x 14 months. Taxes will be deduced according to the Portuguese law. Yearly raises to correct for inflation will be calculated according to the Portuguese law.
 
Applicants
Applicants should have obtained a Ph.D. Degree in Business Administration, Management Science, Economics (preferably in the fields of Labour Economics or Industrial Organization), or Public Policy. Applicants should have a quality research record, including 3 years of post-doctoral research experience.
