Call for Papers - The FBN Summit
Deadline: 12 January 2007

The Family Business Network is the world's leading network of
business-owning families, promoting the success and sustainability of
family enterprises. The network includes more than 1700 members from
over 56 countries. The Family Business Network is committed to provide
and share experiences and insights in an atmosphere of confidentiality
and trust - 'by families, for families'. Each year FBN organizes a world
Summit where around 400 members (including 100 Next Generationers) of
business-owning families from all over the world gather to network and
learn about the challenges for their families, their enterprises and
their wealth. The 18th Summit will present "state of the art" knowledge
from research and from the experiences of successful family firms as
well as from 'disaster cases'. Family members involved in their
businesses in leadership, management, ownership, governance or family
roles, non-family executives and board members are offered a unique
opportunity to be exposed to new ideas and to share experiences in a
unique environment.

A call to contribute
This document calls for submissions from business-owning families, FBN
chapters, affiliated members such as family business experts, academics,
educators, consultants and all others interested in presenting or
conducting a:
- workshop
- small group session
- roundtable discussion
- plenary presentation
- panel discussion
- live case
- other forms of learning and networking

Submission and selection procedure
The FBN Summit Programme Committee, in conjunction with family business
members from FBN Germany's Host Committee, will review the submissions.
Successful proposals will be consistent with the Summit theme. Practical
relevance and (interactive) structured learning and outcomes are key
requirements for accepting proposals. Proposals should include an
executive summary and an outline, and indicate the presence of (expert)
moderators and family business speakers, research/practice background
and ways of interaction with attendees. Preference will be given to
proposals where family-business members are present to share their
experiences and to those based on sound research, problem solving cases,
practice and/or in depth experiences. You are cordially invited to use
the attached call for proposals form. You may furthermore send us
additional texts (outlines and summaries) using your preferred written
format via email. A preliminary proposal of maximum two pages can be
submitted in electronic format with your contact details (Microsoft
Word) to: np at fbn-i.org

Deadline for preliminary proposals
The preliminary proposal can be submitted until 12 January 2007. The
Programme Committee will inform you once the preliminary proposals have
been accepted and invite you to submit a final proposal by early
February 2007.
