CALL FOR PAPERS

Conference is organised by Riga International School of Economics & Business Administration (RISEBA), Latvia. 

The conference aims at stimulating exploration of labour market challenges relevant for countries around the globe and elaboration of appropriate responses. It is designed to bring together leading practitioners, policy-makers and academia to dialogue, share and exchange, and disseminate ideas among main stakeholders in the field focused on improvement of both local and international labour practices. 

We cordially invite you to contribute and feed the analytical content of the conference, as well as to enjoy Riga and the company of other participants. 

The conference will address three broad themes:

Theme 1:  Changes in labour markets
-	impact of recent migration and capital flows
-	impact of globalisation on employment, wages and conditions of employment
-	demographic changes
-	impact of changes in human capital

Theme 2:  Strategies for managing people in changing environments
-	managing culture and diversity – gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation
-	training and development
-	career planning and development
-	future skills and competences
-	social responsibility and/ or competitive advantage
-	managing change
-	motivation and behaviour
-	issues for SMEs
-	HR emigration: how the challenge is being met?
-	ageing of society: challenges and opportunities
-	labour deficit: enterprise perspective

Theme 3:  Changing employment policies and practices
-	unemployment and employment policies
-	labour markets: impact of EU Employment Policy
-	labour market in EU: regulation and real-life requirements
-	role of state institutions in labour market development

Conference format and language

Format
The Conference is organised in two days, with plenary, parallel sessions and panel discussions with third day devoted to exploring the city of Riga. 

Language
The conference will be held in English. 

Papers
Papers should be submitted in English. Authors are invited to send papers that are original work and not published in other sources.  Please send your proposals before December 25, 2006, to Ms. Kristine Guseva at kris at rsebaa.lv . It must contain an abstract of one page maximum, the key words. Indicate the name of the author (s), the institution and the country of origin and the topic.  

Notification of acceptance of the abstract will be communicated before December 29, 2006. 
The complete text should be sent before January 15, 2007. It must range between 10-15 pages, including tables, graphs, appendices and the bibliography.   
Papers should be submitted in MS Word format. For page format please use margins of 2.5 cm, the text in Times New Roman, text size 12, line spacing 1.5.

Early registration (if paid before December 16)		LVL 150 (€ 220) + 18% VAT 
Standard registration (if paid after December 16) 		LVL 200 (€ 290) + 18% VAT

Participation in the conference includes access to conference programme, conference package, coffee breaks, lunches, reception and dinner.  Participants will be responsible for their own transportation to and from Riga, Latvia, as well hotel costs.

You will receive an invoice upon registration. Payments can be made through bank transfer. All amounts are payable in LATS or EURO and are subject to 18% VAT. Payments must be completed before the event.

Discounts

We have negotiated a group rate at MARITIM Park Hotel Riga (http://www.maritim.lv/EN/) that is located within 5 minutes walk to the conference venue, and at Domina Inn Riga (http://www.dominainnriga.com) that is located within 20 minutes drive to the conference venue. 

Rooms and hotels are reserved for conference until January 10, 2007.
