Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Marketing in Hospitality and
Tourism
Department of Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Management
Grade of post: Senior Lecturer (10/11)
 
Post number: 15872
FT or % P/T: Full-time
 
Principal location of work: Headington Campus but may be required to
work at other Oxford Brookes sites.
Immediate line manager: Department Head - Hospitality, Leisure and
Tourism Management
Staff managed: None
 
Qualifications required for post: A Masters degree and/or professional
qualification in a relevant business subject area
 
Experience required for post: Experience of teaching in HE at
undergraduate and postgraduate levels in entrepreneurship and marketing,
applied to the hospitality and tourism industries. A comprehensive
understanding of academic and theoretical perspectives on
entrepreneurship and marketing and ability to apply them within the
context of hospitality and tourism. To have a commercial, as well as
academic, orientation
 
 
Overall purpose of post: To undertake academic and academic-related
responsibilities
 
Main duties:

1.  To teach students using appropriate instruction methods such as
lectures, tutorials, seminars and other formal pedagogic work.
2.  To lead and support modules in fields such as entrepreneurship;
marketing; and international issues.
3.  To assist with the Department's commercially oriented activities.
4.  To supervise students projects and dissertations.
5.  To supervise students engaged on higher degree work by research.
6.  To mark and assess students work, and to invigilate.
7.  To undertake relevant personal research and other forms of scholarly
activity.
8.  To undertake curriculum development work including identification of
consumer requirements, planning, development and evaluation of courses
and course materials and supervise course provision.
9.  To care for the pastoral needs of students including counselling,
welfare and guidance.
10.   To manage and administer education processes including the
administration and management of education and training programmes, and
publicity and public relations work.
11.   To participate in the administrative processes of the institution
including committee membership, quality assurance procedures,
recruitment and admission of students.
12.  To undertake income generating activities.
13.  To represent the institution on or to appropriate external bodies.
14.  To participate in staff development processes and in-service
training.
15.  To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required by the
University having regard to the general principles used in the above
descriptions.
