Liebe Mitglieder der Sektion Migration und ethnische Minderheiten der DGS,

Liebe Abonnent:innen des Newsletters,

dieser Newsletter erscheint erstmals ohne Unterstützung durch eine studentische Hilfskraft. Leider deckten die Beiträge zuletzt nicht mehr die Personalkosten. Wir werden nun für einige Monate erproben, ob wir den Newsletter in der bisherigen Form fortführen können. An dieser Stelle möchten wir uns noch einmal herzlich bei Alina Anna Waltraudes für die jahrelange treue Unterstützung bei der Erstellung des Newsletters und bei der Sektionsarbeit bedanken.

Wir weisen erneut auf die vom 21.-22.5.2026 stattfindende Frühjahrstagung der Sektion unter dem Titel "Social Citizenship on the Move. Arenas, Actors and Practices of Social Rights within and beyond the State" im Rahmen der AG Citizenship der Sektion Migration und ethnsiche Minderheiten hin. Die Tagung wird von Prof. Dr. Matthias Otten (TH Köln), Dr. Catharina Peeck-Ho (Universität Hannover) und Dr. Oleksandra Tarkhanova (Universität St. Gallen) in Kooperation mit dem Sektionsvorstand durchgeführt. Für unsere beiden Sektionsveranstaltungen auf dem diesjährigen DGS-Kongress an der Universität Mainz haben wir zahlreiche spannende Einreichungen erhalten. Sobald die Begutachtung beendet ist, werden Sie dazu mehr von uns hören.

Dear members of the Migration and Ethnic Minorities Section of the DGS,

Dear newsletter subscribers,

This newsletter is being published for the first time without support from a student assistant. Unfortunately, the contributions have recently no longer covered personnel costs. We will now evaluate over the coming months whether we can continue the newsletter in its current format. We want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Alina Anna Waltraudes for compiling the newsletter and supporting the work of our section over the past years.

We would also like to draw your attention to the section’s upcoming spring conference, taking place on May 21–22, 2026, under the title “Social Citizenship on the Move: Arenas, Actors and Practices of Social Rights within and beyond the State,” organized by the AG Citizenship of the Section on Migration and Ethnic Minorities. The conference is organized by Prof. Dr. Matthias Otten (TH Köln), Dr. Catharina Peeck-Ho (University of Hanover), and Dr. Oleksandra Tarkhanova (University of St. Gallen) in cooperation with the section board. We have received numerous high-quality submissions for our two section events at this year’s DGS-Congress at the University of Mainz. You will hear more from us once the review process has been completed.
